After the triumph of Emphasis' S/T record, the question was what next? In many ways Emphasis had started as a very specific outlet for Ned to express a personal journey. The band was formed as a vehicle for that journey but during the creative process the music became enfused with the DNA of all the band members. Even though it seemed like perhaps the mission had been completed after recording and touring the S/T record, the band decided to push forward and see what developed creatively. At the time there was discussions of how they could push the envelope beyond what they had done before (one crazy plan involved having a mic in Ralph's bass drum that would run to an amplifier that would be behind him as he played) challenging themselves musically and creatively. Even though the band was a powerhouse and had incredible musicianship together some of them felt that maybe that had already said all they had to say with this project. Ned had specific ideas about a 3 song EP that would perhaps symbolize the natural conclusion of the band but it was not meant to be. This song is the only material Emphasis created post S/T record and the only recording in existence of that material. This was just a crude recording from band practice and even though it's rough around the edges it serves as both a fun seed germinating into a fabulous question of what if? but also is a shining example of the creative fury that those four bandmates could conjure when in the same room as one another with instruments in hand.
